We couldn’t be happier with the amazing renovation that Ken and his crew did for our lakefront home. We would highly recommend Craftsmen by Grace for a number of reasons:  First, their ability to look at a project and be able to offer design suggestions adding special custom finishes that take a reno project from standard to standout!   Second, the crew was outstanding in terms of their skill level and attention to detail ensuring your project was handled with the utmost care.    Third, project pivoting or add-ons may occur with any home remodeling project.  With that in mind, Ken was very accommodating while at the same time communicating any added costs/extra worktime to the current project plans.   Last, but not least the company builds its reputation on integrity that is second to none in the field.

Our initial project included our main level half bath, great room and full kitchen remodel.   Our half bath is right off the dining area with only a hallway separating.  In communicating to Ken that I desired greater privacy for guests, he recommended using a barn door or reclaimed antique doors to close off dining to half bath.  With pure amazement, I had been storing some 1920’s leaded glass doors belonging to my grandmother and the measurement of these doors were the exact fit to the door opening!  Ken did an amazing job fusing the doors together and finishing off with beautiful antique handles.   Next, Ken advised on using a common design element  for each room and I let him know how much I loved shiplap!  Ken transformed our little half-bath into a work of art with a soft blue hue painted on the shiplap covered walls.  Italian square tiles added an extra flair to the small bath, especially when Ken found ceramic baseboards identically matching the taupe that was in the floor tile.  Next, the kitchen went from a U-shaped 80’s style workspace to an open and airy kitchen with attention to every detail making it an ideal gathering and cooking spot!   Even the backsplash has Ken’s signature talents as he suggested cutting 3x12 subways into thirds and adding a border separating it with a pencil molding.    Ken carried the shiplap theme into the kitchen by adding it as a visual factor above the large island and framing it for an eye-popping de that is the envy of every visitor!   Since we live on a lake, we chose a beautiful, neutral luxury vinyl tile that  is waterproof and virtually maintenance-free!  The flooring extended from kitchen/dining to hallway and into our great room which provided a connected flow from room to room.  In our great room, we had a standard brick facing and hearth that was transformed into an amazing floor-to-cathedral ceiling stacked stone fireplace anchoring the room perfectly!   Ken hand designed the mantel and stained it to match the staircase wood as well as the ceiling beams for a dramatic look!  Next, came adding shiplap to below our exposed stairway as well as adding shiplap to a front window area.  As Ken and his crew were in the final stretch of the reno project, I asked if the narrow lookout above our great room could be drywalled and converted into a “he-closet” since it was connected to the owner’s suite.  Measurements/ideas and a quote were produced and we went ahead adding this new feature to our home.  Thank you Ken for making our home that is cozy and welcoming with wow factors galore!  We’ll be sure to contact you for our next project!
